The natural terrestrial radioactive background radiation is recorded (Carlsbourg-Station) since November of the year 2011 "Fukushima Year" and until today. The data collected is regularly recorded in the database of a server. An annual graph is then published, as well as a graph showing all the annual data since the end of 2011.
Effects of radiation
The effects on a living organism of exposure to ionizing radiation (irradiation) depend on the level and duration of the exposure (acute or chronic), on the nature of the radiation as well as on the location of the radioactivity (external exposure, internal, on the surface, etc ...)
Uses
Radiation from radioactive substances is widely used in industry for the control of manufactured parts, welds, wear, and in nuclear medicine for diagnostic purposes at low dose, and for therapeutic purposes at high dose to cure cancers. During the various uses of radioactivity, it is naturally advisable to follow the prevention, protection and control measures adapted to the level of radioactivity. (wikipedia)
Monitoring
The data for this graph is obtained using a geiger counter connected to a PC. The counter is manufactured by Black Cat Systems, Model GM45.
Radiation Monitor commissioned 1 Nov 2011.
Calibration
The GM45 probe was recalibrated July 2022 according to the Gamma-Scout. This is tested in an authorized institute by the state. Each unit is supplied with a certificate stating its serial number.
